Love Makes the World Go Round
Mrs. Millerd's class sent a simple message on their class Seesaw app and Facebook app to see if love really makes the world go round. Mrs. Millerd and her class were overjoyed with all the LOVE that they were given. They were flooded with Valentine's Day cards, emails and messages from all around the world! It was quite AMAZING! They received close to 100 pieces of mail during the month of February and into March. They received mail from 9 different countries and 25 states. The first graders received mail from such states as Alaska, Washington, Louisiana, Mississippi, Wyoming, Arkansas, Oregon and New York just to name a few. Some of the countries included Brazil, Japan, Germany, India, France and Ukraine. Not only did the class receive some really nice cards, they were sent three books. One book was all about Manatees, another book was about a football player and the third book was sent from a class in New York City called Love is all around New York City. The class received a Tennessee state magnet, gift baggies, stickers, pencils and candy from some very kind people. The first graders learned so much through this project. They learned about where states and countries are located in the world, they learned about bodies of water and land features of the states and countries that mail was received from. They also were interested in many important landmarks that they got mail from. Most importantly, Mrs. Millerd's class realized that LOVE does exist everywhere and love does make the world go round.!

Thank you Frankenmuth Credit Union for proving Mrs. Millerd and Mrs. White grants for their classrooms. 🍎

Lots of classrooms did some fun learning around St. Patrick's Day. Mrs. Millerds students created a chart using lucky charms marshmallows. 🍀

There was a lot of green in the building today! 🍀 Did you hear that the leprechaun visited Mrs. Paquette's office leaving us a pile of gold? A couple of lucky readers from every class was selected to get a token to the book vending machine. Here are a few of the winners.

Tiaras off to Rotary Club of Birch Run for another extraordinary Daddy Daughter dance. The girls had a blast.

Mrs. Davis' first grade students arrived at school today ready to travel! Prepared with their supplies and imagination their room was transformed into a traveling plane. Students got the chance to read "around the world" today.

Fourth grade students from Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Wagner's class participated in today's March is Reading Month dress up day -wear a shirt or hat with text. It was fun to see the students participate in this reading event.

Mrs. Trinklein wrote a grant to create a retelling center in her kindergarten classroom. Today students were able to explore these books/felt stories and retell favorite stories that they have read in the classroom this year. What a great way to celebrate March is Reading Month!
Thank you to the Birch Run/Taymouth Education Foundation!

Mrs. Bitterman was awarded the Best of Birch Run teacher tonight by the Chamber of Commerce! This is truly a well deserved award as Mrs. Bitterman has taught students for many years and continues to give back to professional in many ways. Many of you were probably taught to read by Mrs. Bitterman! Please join us in celebrating this honor with her.
